Tightwad Tuesday: Once a Month Cooking

We have activities going nearly every night of the week, which makes it difficult to get a healthy meal on the table every night and very tempting to hit the nearest restaurant on the way out the door to soccer p

The posts will be published each Friday for the next 26 weeks. You can read the first one here. If you’ve been considering signing up for Stolen Moments Menu Planning, now would be a great time. Wrap up dinner and dessert
Foil-packet meals are ideal for camping and open-fire cooking. But they can be made at home and cooked in the oven or on the grill, too.
Cooking Class Round Up
I love cooking, but I’ll be the first to admit that my skills could use a little coaching. Granted, there are times when I take that first bite of a hard-labored dinner, and I’m just about convinced that I could open my own restaurant in New York City. Then, there are those other nights (probably more often than not) when that food hits the trash can, and I hit the take-out menus. Well, East Bay Restaurant Supply wants to help us discover our inner chef with “La Cucina Italiana”- a month of gr

Her latest recipe for Pineapple Chicken Lettuce Wraps looks delish and at just $2.15

What’s Your Style of Meal Planning?
When I read about frugality, one tip that I see repeated over and over is weekly menu planning. And yes, I see the appeal of knowing that Sunday is pot roast, Monday is spaghetti, and Tuesday is pizza. But I don’t buy it. I consider myself to be the Queen Empress of frugal cooking, yet weekly menu planning ends up being more expensive for me because I find myself planning complicated meals instead of working with what I already have on hand. And incorporating leftovers that are needing to ge
